V.O.M. (Chiropractic Care)

T he advantages to VOM over manual manipulation is that it LASTS LONGER, ADJUSTS FASTER and reduces the risk of over-manipulation. For example, I am not a chiropractic, I am a veterinarian. The course they give for human chiropractors is 4 years long. After considering the risks and the values of the two different types of chiropractic styles, I have chosen to start with the ACTIVATOR style and then get this experience and then move on to more training with manual manipulation as a progression in my training and understanding.

My longest standing client told me one day that he liked the V.O.M. style of Chiropractic care as compared to manipulation. His other personal friend who was a Human Chiropractor performed very minor adjustments to his dog when it was indicated. I asked him why he would go to the expense of my V.O.M. when he could get these minor, appropriate, exact adjustments for free. He told me that after I would treat his dog with my V.O.M. activator that his dog, Mike, would immediately respond and walk better, last longer and this is what he wanted.

.O.M. is a healing modality which bridges the gap between veterinary medicine and chiropractic care.It is simple, effective and safe. Dr. MiMi uses three different devices to heal an injury:

1) V.O.M. Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation involves using a hand-held device called
and ACTIVATOR which is also used by human chiropractors. These activators locate areas in the nervous system that have fallen out of "adjustment". By making 3 passes through the nervous system of the animal, the process can heal (fix, adjust) conditons as seen below which may be healed permanently, no change or may require repeated treatments to maintain normal function.

2) VetroStim TM. A device which gives a Controlled stronger (than human hands) MASSAGE to your pet by giving rapid, thrusting points in tight affected areas. The device STIMULATES at 12-14 times per second which has been shown to be very effective on humans.

PETS LOVE IT!! They lean into it as a matter of fact. Dr. MiMi uses this after the VOM treatment re-adjusts the SUB-Luxated nerve problem and the VETROSTIM brings blood to the areas and relaxes the muscle around the injured nerve area and affects meridians.

3) Alpha- Sonic Sound Wave Therapy. Have you ever heard of Chi? Some call it Qi or Ki (Korea). It is basically the energy BETWEEN cells. Energy also flows along meridians.There are different band sound waves (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Theta and Delta). This Alpha-Sonic unit has two hand pieces which are used to move energy through vibrations and invisible sound. Dr. MiMi will sweep the body 3 times to start the flow of energry and then the hand pieces can be placed in one area to promote energy generation and possibly healing. It is best if the animal is well hydrated.

Of course, every individual is different and their length of chronic condtion varies as does the severity of the injury, yet VOM is and excellent tool to heal muscle, skeletal and neurologic abnormalities. This individuality will determine recovery time and length of treatment. As this method is NOT chiropractic care yet it produces similar EFFECTIVE results through being safe and simple.

Dr. MiMi prefers to be able to review the radiographs (X-rays) of the whole spine in both views taken be your veterinarian. She will be glad to take the responsibilty to return them to your veterinarian who has the legal responsibility to keep those radiographs of your pet. Although one must understand that Dr. MiMi can not CLAIM that this modality HEALS any of the following diseases...she would be glad to discuss her experience and her successes in the following disease states.
